Why Reading and Writing
are important in academia?
Reading is presented not only as a way to gather knowledge and information but also as a journey of analysis that stimulates profound thinking. As students engage with classic texts, they will explore the depth of ideas, the richness of emotions, and the artistry behind the works. At the same time, they learn to critically evaluate the viewpoints and assumptions found within these texts by reflecting on the underlying logic and philosophical concepts.
Writing is viewed as an extension and expression of thought, further reinforcing critical thinking skills. Throughout the writing process, students are encouraged to integrate information and use diverse sources to clearly express their ideas. They will also learn to continuously reflect on, revise, and refine their arguments.
The course ignites creativity by encouraging critical thinking across history, literature, philosophy, and art. It also builds vital skills like empathy, cultural awareness, and ethical reasoning—essential for thriving in a global, diverse world.
